Brenco's mills will produce more than 600MWs of power and be energy self-sufficient. Brenco's electricity will be consumed not only in its own operations but also sold and supplied to the Central East region of Brazil, the area of highest electricity demand in the Brazilian economy.
Brenco will generate electricity by burning "bagasse" - generated as a natural by-product of the sugarcane ethanol production process - in the boilers of our plants at high temperature. |
Sugarcane is composed of water, fibers, sucrose and other sugars and minerals. When sugarcane goes through the milling process, it is separates the water, sugar and minerals from the fibers in the form of bagasse. Sugarcane bagasse is an important sub-product of sugarcane and may be used as fuel for the boilers in our plants.
